Top 5 beach destinations that will blow your mind away!

Updated: May 13

Who doesn’t like some tan? Umm…well, I don’t but beaches make for the most perfect photographs! The sun, the sand & the cool breeze! One cannot simply ignore a beach calling!

The best beaches I have visited in their ranking order are:

  1. Ganapatipule, Maharashtra

  2. Kamala Beach -Phuket, Thailand

  3. Costa Brava, Spain

  4. Candolim, Goa

  5. Ashvem Beach, Goa

As you can see from my choice of beaches, these are mostly isolated & not very commercialized. I like secluded, quiet non-party beaches as they help me hear my thoughts & relax. Ganapatipule is one of the cleanest beaches I have been to.

Kamala beach made me believe in love at first sight! I know you may feel that’s a tad bit too much- but it’s true! The white sand beach, with beachside shacks serving hot food & cool drinks, yummy coconut water & the laid back life- what more does a girl need? Stay in one of the beachside serviced apartments & enjoy their infinity pool! Since these apartments can be expensive, it would be great if you can take along with you a couple of friends to share the expenses.

Costa Brava was the most festive beach I have ever been too- but the festivities were not loud or exorbitant. They simply made all the inhabitants of this cute little island happy. The beach is completely filled with pebbles instead of fine sand & walking on it is tough- but the view once you touch the ocean is completely worth the pain you experience! Walking down the tiny lanes of the tiny island, making a tour of the island is just fun & relaxed. A tip for diners: instead of opting for the beachside restaurants, try one of the lane side restaurants- the food is equally good but the price is half! Of course, beachside restaurant owners know English which may not be true for the owners inside but they do have photo menus which make food selection very easy!

If you love beaches, you can’t ignore Goa- India’s very own international destination! Be it nightlife or water sports, Goa has everything. Candolim is a quiet beach with hardly anyone in sight- that’s what I loved about it. The hotel there is at a walking distance from the beach. The sheer variety of cafes & restaurants available in the area is unmatchable! Over the years, the government of Goa has done quite a lot to ensure safety at the beaches, reduce drug use & encourage families to come to Goa- but I guess Goa will always be to India what Las Vegas is to the US- what happens at Goa stays at Goa!
